We were relieved to learn that there are now serious efforts underway to save the tower! There was a meeting on Aug. 21 which was well attended and supported by a number of speakers. The efforts are being led by the Henry County Historical Society, and we have been informed that efforts are underway to establish a separate 501(c)(3) charity to collect funds for the project.
“Our goals are to repair Grove Tower, to restore, parts of it, renovate it for adaptive use, and preserve it for future generations,” said David Webb, President of the Henry County Historical Society. We have also been told it is now listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, which could help in fundraising efforts in the future. We urge anyone interested to contact the Henry County Historical Society.
