A meeting aimed at saving one of Henry County’s most cherished landmarks, Grove Tower, took place on October 7th with about 40 interested persons attending. Recently it was announced that the tower is no longer safe for occupancy, and county offices have all moved out. We have been told that there there are no funds available for repairs, and fears are that the tower may collapse if nothing is done to prevent it. Organizers hope to form a non-profit organization, a new Save Grove Tower Association.
Proposed goals for the Save Grove Tower Association include advocating with local government officials for much-needed repairs, proposing and supporting adaptive reuse of the building, assisting with grant writing, and raising funds to preserve this vital piece of the community’s heritage.
County Historian, David Webb, said, “We will need all hands on deck: an executive board, committee chairs and members, bylaws, applying to the Secretary of State’s office as a non-profit organization, seeking and processing donations, applying for grants, lobbying government officials, in-kind help, etc.”
I hope any of you who can will help support these efforts.
Thank you, Betty. We are working on seeing who else may be willing to help.
I WILL BE HAPPY TO MAKE A MONETARY DONATION.
