James Kimmons

BRANDON – James “Jim” Edward Kimmons, 86, of Brandon, Mississippi, returned to his heavenly home on June 25, 2021. Born January 4, 1935, in Paris, Tennes- see, he was the son of the late Harris and Elizabeth Kimmons and brother of the late Dorothy Boulton. Dr. Kimmons was a member of the E.W. Grove Class 1953.

Jim is survived by his wife Gency Kimmons; son Kirk Kimmons, daugh- ter Kendra Kimmons-English; son Kyle Kimmons; grandchildren Geoffrey Watson and Brenna Kim- mons; Campbell and Hayden English; and Shelton, Grace and Emie Kimmons. Jim was a man of strong faith, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many.

He proudly served in the Marine Corps as a naval aviator and 1st Lieutenant before attending University of Tennessee Dental School. His oldest son followed in his footsteps, serving for more than 20 years in the Marine Corps.

Jim was a respected orthodontist who gave the gift of beautiful smiles to thousands of clients in Mississippi over his 56 years of practice. This included his work and volunteerism with the cleft palate treatment community.

Jim was also an avid sports fan but especially loved SEC football. Since settling in Jackson, Mis- sissippi in 1966, he faithfully supported the Ole Miss Rebels but also had a soft spot for the Tennes- see Volunteers, his alma matter. With Mississippi State and LSU graduates in the family there was always a good-natured rivalry and spirited debate around the table at holidays.

His zest for life was evident whether he was serving his country, playing tennis, riding his Har- ley motorcycle or cheering on his favorite teams. His Christian values shone through in all that he did, especially in the way he cared for others – his family, clients, colleagues and friends. He will be missed by so many.

You are invited to share your favorite memories, photos and stories about Jim on sebrellfuneral- home.com, which provided text for this obituary.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the care provided by Comfort Keepers, Amedisys Home Health, G.V. (Sonny) Mont- gomery VA Medical Center and Select Specialty Hospital.
