Vivann Vincent Veazey ~ Obituary

Services for Viann Vincent Veazey, 81, of Paris, are scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church where she was a member and longtime nursery attendant.

Visitation is scheduled at the church from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and noon until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Rob Martin, Paul Veazey and Brian Wimberley will officiate.

Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Ross and Kirkland Norwood, Brian and Brandon Wimberley, Noble Grant, Caleb Grissom and Randall Perkins.

Veazey’s nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Veazey died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Paris to the late James Harry Vincent Sr. and Gertrude Lasater Vincent.

Veazey was married June 19, 1952, to Dan Brite Veazey Sr., who died March 17, 1995.

A family member said Veazey served as a nursery attendant at First United Methodist Church for 40-plus years. The nursery bears the name Veazey/Hooper Nursery in honor of Veazey.

A family member said she enjoyed baking cakes for all her family and raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters: Debi (Tommy) Wimberly and Natalie Norwood, both of Paris, and Vicki (William) Veazey-Morris of New Haven, Conn.;

Two sons: Dan B. (Minette) Veazey of Paris and John Veazey and Sid Stafford, both of Atlanta.; one brother: Dan Vincent of Nashville;

Two sisters-in-law: Sarah Ann Nealon Vincent of Gallatin and Donna Lee Turner of Camden; two brothers-in-law: Carl Ross (Jacque) Veazey and Andy Hooper, both of Paris;

Seven grandchildren: Brian (P.J.) Wimberley, Brandon Wimberley, Ross, DeeGee, Mallory and Kirkland Norwood, all of Paris, and Beth (Noble) Grant of Medina;

Three great-grandchildren: Sarah Jane and Caleb Wimberley, both of Paris, and Reese Grant of Medina; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother: James Harry Vincent Jr.; brother-in-law: James Turner; and two sisters-in-law: Judy Hooper and Elaine Vincent.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church nursery or the church’s Relay for Life team.
