Laurine Maxwell Jackson ~ Obituary

The funeral for Laurine M. Jackson of Paris will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Trent Bullock of First Baptist Church and a nephew, Phillip Maxwell, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Chosen as pallbearers are Jerry Maddox, Bobby J. Perry, Phillip Maxwell, Austin Perry, Chunky Jackson and Ed Wheatley.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Jackson, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at River Park Hospital in McMinnville.

Born Sept. 24, 1926, in Paris, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Minnie Hicks Maxwell.

She was married on Sept. 17, 1945, to Lewis L. Jackson, who died June 13, 2012.

She worked for Rogers Jewelers in downtown Paris for more than 20 years. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1957 and according to a family member enjoyed her Sunday school class and study of the Bible. Jackson graduated as salutatorian in the Grove High School Class of 1944. The family member said her hobbies included reading, sewing, genealogy and cooking.

She leaves two daughters: Lydia (Donnie) Linville of Paris and Kay (Avery) Myers of McMinnville; two brothers: Elwood (Connie) Maxwell of Springville and John (Charlene) Maxwell of Baton Rouge, La.; one brother-in-law: Doug (Helen) Jackson of Germantown; three sisters-in-law: Katherine Jackson of Paris, Betty Olson of Memphis and Pattye Hudson of Collierville;

Three grandchildren: Lisa (Chip) Hutson of Buchanan, Greg (Tiffany) Linville of O’Fallon, Mo., and Phillip Clingman of Florida; seven great-grandchildren: Charly, Grady and Mary Mabel Hutson, all of Buchanan, and Katherine, Maggie, Tytus and Tripp Linville, all of O’Fallon; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be made to Friends of the Library, 400 W. Washington St., Paris or First Baptist Church, 313 N. Poplar St., Paris.
