A funeral service for Paris native Dorothy McNutt Hurt of Kingsport was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport.
Ron Davis officiated. Burial followed in Oak Hill Memorial Park in Kingsport.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan Hurt, Bill Fortenberry, James McCaslin, Jeff Taylor, Andy Feliu and Steve Smith.
Visitation was Sunday.
Hurt, 80, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport after a brief illness.
Born May 14, 1927, she was a daughter of the late R.A. and Lois Henry McNutt. Her husband of 43 years Charles David Hurt preceded her in death.
A 1945 Grove High School graduate, she was a former employee at Holley carburetor plant in Paris and with Burns Security at the Marshall Flight Space Center in Huntsville, Ala.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingsport and Daughters of the American Revolution. A family member said she enjoyed genealogical research and reading Civil War history.
She leaves one daughter: Lois (Bill) Fortenberry of Kingsport; a son: Dan (Nancy) Hurt of Paris; a sister: Pat (James) McCaslin of Paris; four grandchildren: Amy (Jeff) Taylor of Kingsport, Susan Fortenberry of Knoxville, Kathryn Fortenberry of Clemson, S.C., and Christina Hurt of Paris; and a great-grandchild: Paul Jeffrey Taylor of Kingsport.
