Paris native Jules Floyd Haywood
Jr., 85, of Tifton, Ga., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his residence. His wife of 62 years, Carolyne Giles Haywood, survives. A memorial visitation is planned from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors in Tifton. Burial will be later in Maplewood Cemetery here. Born Nov. 18, 1926, he was a son of the late Jules Floyd Haywood Sr. and Mabel Hill Haywood. After attending Vanderbilt University, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University, then taught and coached in Tennessee, before moving to Senatobia, Miss., where he raised his family and worked as a textile industry plant manager. He retired to Tifton. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served with occupational forces in Germany. He also leaves one daughter: Melinda (Rick) Davis of Maryville; one son: James (Becky) Haywood of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one brother: James Haywood; one sister: Rosalyn Haywood; and three grandchildren: Hannah (Scott) Brock, Daniel Giles Haywood and Phillip Thomas Haywood. A sister-in-law, Verne Haywood, also preceded him in death.
