Opal K. Kesterson Opal Kesterson Guthrie, 95, of Paris died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Paris Healthcare Center. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Gary S. Collier will officiate. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery. Chosen as pallbearers are Danny and Tommy Kesterson, Kerry Bell, Tommy and Mitch Ellis and Jerry Knott. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul and Jason Kesterson, Jonathon Bell, Scott Jeter and Donald Bomar. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Saturday. Born Jan. 5, 1912, in Henry County, she was a daughter of John Washington Kesterson and Ida C. Melton Kesterson. She was married Aug. 17, 1935, to Robert Guthrie, who died Aug. 31, 1989. |
Mrs. Guthrie was a 1932 graduate of Grove
High School, formerly of Paris. She retired from Chrysler Motor Co., in Michigan as a machinist. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Michigan and the Sanders Senior Citizens Center in Paris. She leaves one son: Bob (June) Guthrie of Lee, Fla.; three grandchildren: David Guthrie of Washington state, Ralph Guthrie of Florida and Katrina Renee Blades, both of Florida; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by three sisters: Eloise Kesterson Crute, Ollie May Kesterson Phelps and Melba Kesterson Tyler; and four brothers: Presley Andrew Kesterson, Millard Kesterson Sr., Hugh Everett Kesterson and Claude Denloy Kesterson. |
