A memorial service for Fred Thomas
Conger of Big Sandy is planned at 5 p.m. Friday at Manleyville Cornerstone
Church at Manleyville. Linda Barrett, pastor of the church, will officiate. There will be no visitation. McEvoy Funeral Home is in charge. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason, David and Jamie Conger and Anthony Clayton. Conger, 63, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The body was cremated. Born in Paris on July 5, 1947, he was a son of the late Ed and Era Mai Hooper Conger. Conger was a 1967 graduate of Grove High School. A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-1970. He later served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard 890th Engineering Co. for 28 years, including Operation Desert Storm. He retired on July 6, 2007, from the U.S. Army as a sergeant first class. He was a member of Manleyville Cornerstone Church and formerly worked at Walmart in the garden center and with Jimmy Mosley’s Tree Service. |
