| The funeral service for the founder of
Brown Sign Service in Paris, John Franklin “Frank” Brown, will be at 3 p.m.
Saturday at East Wood Church of Christ. The church’s preacher, Roger Banks, and John Dale of Glendale Road Church of Christ in Murray will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clay Riley, Bob Cloy, Lavelle Davidson, Jimmy Wynn, Leon Bumpus and Bill DeWees. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Tucker, Carl Robinson, Herman Jackson, Jimmy Huffman, Dudley Hays and Claytus Wilson. Visitation is scheduled 4-8 tonight and after 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Brown, 80, of Paris, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was born June 19, 1927, in Paris to the late Robbie Dale Brown and Cara Jobe Brown. A 1945 graduate of Grove High School, Brown attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and was a graduate of Toler’s Business College. In 1946, he founded Brown Sign Services Inc. behind the old Airplane Gas Station at Mineral Wells Avenue and Memorial Drive. A charter member of the Paris Optimist Club, Brown enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends and relatives, according to family members. On March 18, 1951, he married the former Wilma Medlock, who survives. Brown was a member of East Wood Church of Christ, where he was a teacher for 25 years and deacon for 28 years. He also is survived by two daughters: Jennifer (Alton) Wright of Paris; Martha (Bill) Porter of Round Hill, Va.; two sons: Mark Brown and Craig (Janis) Brown of Paris; Twelve grandchildren: Jason (Amanda) Brown, Joseph Brown, Natalie Flowers (Brent) Thurmond, Lydia Flowers (Barry) Flood, John David Flowers, Marcia Middleton (Brett) Wimberley, Lauren and Phillip Brown, and Sarah, Sam, Carla and Jennifer Porter; Six great-grandchildren: Olivia Harber, Evan Flood, Claire Thurmond, Macy Brown, and Wells and Madalynn Wimberley; three nieces; and one nephew. He also was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Caralyn Brown Watkins; and a brother Robert Jobe Brown |
