Former Paris resident Edna Sue
Mortensen, 89, of Richmond, Va., died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at her
residence. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bevil Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Friday. Born in Paris on Dec. 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Earl Toler and Verbal Edna Melton Toler. Her first husband, Jimmy Nix, and her second husband, Walt Mortensen, both preceded her in death. She was a registered nurse and graduate of Toler’s Business College. She attended Spring Hill Baptist Church in her youth, and was a member of Free Church of Scotland Continuing of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She helped raise two granddaughters and a great-grandson for several years. She was a volunteer secretary for several organizations. Survivors are two daughters: Jimmie Sue (Ronnie) Coburn of Caldwell, Texas, and Wendy Mortensen of Richmond, Va.; two sons: Don Mortensen of Henry and Walter Mortensen of Richmond; two sisters: Chloe York of Paris and Carolyn Carter of Mansfield; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Claudine Frensley and Clair Nell Lankford, and a brother, Earl Toler, also preceded her in death. |
