Sarah Owen McGuire ~ Obituary

The funeral service for Sarah Owen McGuire of Paris was at 2 p.m. Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Maley Davidson, elder of Nelson Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member, and Ed Long of Como officiated. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery.

Family members, Ricky and Scott Owen, Phillip and David Todd, Jason Morris and Jerry Brogdon, were chosen as pallbearers.

Visitation was Saturday and Sunday.

McGuire, 81, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Plumley Rehabilitation Center in Paris.

Born Jan. 1, 1930, in Gleason, she was a daughter of the late Henry Washington Owen and Mattie Bell Vaughn Owen.

She was married on Sept. 25, 1964, to J.C. McGuire, who died Sept. 9, 1996.

McGuire was a 1948 graduate of Grove High School.

She leaves one son: Timothy Charles McGuire of Paris; one sister: Joyce Morris of Cumberland Furnace; and three brothers: Gordon Owen and Byron (Betty) Owen, both of Paris, and James (Geneva) Owen of Lansing, Mich.

She also was preceded in death by three sisters: Geneva McClure, Naomi Woodward and Marjorie Heath; and one brother: Harold Owen, who died Dec. 30, 2010.
