Jim’ Elliott Jr.

A service for tool company founder James R. Elliott Jr. of Springville was scheduled at 11 a.m. today at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Joseph “Joe” Walker Sr. was to officiate. Burial was to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers were Andrew, Billy, John, Steven and Brad Elliott and Scott Parrish.

Visitation was today.

Elliott, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at his residence.

His wife Sue Parrish Elliott survives. The two were married Dec. 10, 1946.

Born April 14, 1923, in Paris, he was the son of James Redmon Elliott Sr. and Lorena Morton Elliott, now both deceased.

He founded Elliott Tool Company, where he worked for more than 25 years. He also was formerly employed at Union Carbide in Paducah. Elliott was a former game warden in Henry County and a federal game warden in Memphis. He was a member of Marshall Masonic Lodge 109 in Cottage Grove.

A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he was a B-25 bomber pilot over Europe. He flew 64 combat missions and received two Distinguished Flying Crosses. His wife said he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons: Jim (Nancy) Elliott, Ted (Debbie) Elliott and Jerry (Jessie) Elliott, all of Buchanan; seven grandchildren: Andrew (Jennifer) Elliott, Billy (Marissa) Elliott, John (Kristin) Elliott, Cayce Elliott, Beth Elliott, Steven (Kathy) Elliott and Brad (Erin) Elliott; and six great-grandchildren: Alexander, Allie, Grace, Gene and Mason Elliott and Chase Craig.
