Henry County native Mary Kathleen
Lancaster Bowser, 85, of Tacoma, Wash., died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at
Franke Tobey Jones retirement estates in Tacoma. A graveside service is planned at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maplewood Cemetery, with Gary S. Collier officiating. There will be no visitation. McEvoy Funeral Home is in charge. Born Feb. 1, 1926, in Springville, she was a daughter of the late Pleasant Whitwell Lancaster and Alpha Omega Frasier Lancaster. She was married on July 26, 1958, to Robert “Sandy” Newton Bowser, who died Feb. 27, 2008. A Grove High School graduate, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University. She also held a master’s degree in education from Florida Atlantic University and a doctorate in education from Nova University. She leaves a son: Jonathan Lancaster (Carol) Bowser of Puyallup, Wash.; one grandchild: Alexander Robert Bowser of Puyallup; two nieces: Judy Davis and Jennifer Crockett; and a nephew: David Crockett. She also was preceded in death by seven sisters: Pauline Lancaster, Virginia Provo, Mattie Crockett, Nellie Cowgill, Nettie Dowdy, Frances Mobley and Helen Thomas. |
