Winston Powell Pillow
|A graveside service for retired
heavy equipment supervisor Winston Powell Pillow of Paris will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday in Birds Creek Cemetery at Whitlock.
Chosen as pallbearers are Paul Atkins, Mike Barnhill, Karonel Plott, Bill Wilson, Eric Hogeland, Porter Derrington and Ronnie Green.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Pillow, 95, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Henry County Medical Center.
He was married on March 27, 1948, to the of former Nell Atkins Pillow, who survives.
Born in Paris on July 30, 1916, he was a son of Joseph Powell Pillow and Texie Douglass Pillow, now both deceased.
Pillow was raised in Whitlock and grew up attending Birds Creek Baptist Church. He retired from the Interstate highway crew for Southern Illinois Paving Co., as a heavy equipment supervisor. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter: Traci Pillow of Paris; one son: Joe P. (Margie “Mo”) Pillow of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren: Eric (Jennifer) Hogeland of Murfreesboro and Amanda (James) Harvill of Paducah; and one great-grandchild: Ryne Tilford.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter: Vicky Lynne Pillow; a son in infancy; and a brother: Stanley Pillow.
