Alex L. Irion, Jr.
(March 5, 1916 - January 7, 2009)

Alex L. Irion, Jr., age 92, of Paris, TN, died Wednesday at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral will be 2:00 PM Monday at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 PM.

He is survived by his son, Jack (Judith) Irion, Shelbyville, TN and a grandchild, Jack Edward Irion also of Shelbyville

Second  Obituary

The funeral service for former auto supply store owner and operator Alex L. Irion Jr. of Paris will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Rob Martin, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Paris, where Irion was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be after noon Monday.

Irion, 92, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Born March 5, 1916, in Paris, he was the son of Alex L. Irion Sr., and Sophie Hill Irion, now both deceased.

He was married on March 16, 1938, to the former Mary Sue Bushart, who died March 27, 2005.

Irion was a graduate of Grove High School and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He owned and operated Irion Auto Supply on East Wood Street. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge and VFW in Paris. A family member said he was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He leaves a son: Jack M. (Judith) Irion of Shelbyville; and a grandchild: Jack Edward Irion of Shelbyville.

He also was preceded in death by three sisters: Mildred and Inez Irion and Julia Neese; and a grandchild: Michelle Anne Irion in September 2006.
